ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Sergeant at Arms and Executive Assistant
1. The member is a member in good standing.
2. At the time of nomination, the member is a member of this local for at least three (3) out of the past five (5) years.
Newspaper Vice President
1. The member is a member in good standing.
2. At the time of nomination, the member has served at least three (3) out of the past five (5) years on the executive committee.
3. The member is employed within the newspaper sector, namely Edmonton Journal.
Full Time President
This position will be elected and filled every four years, commencing in the year 2003. All applications for this position must be made in person and in writing to the Executive Council at the September Executive meeting, or prior approved arrangements made for another suitable time. The Executive Council will interview the applicants for this position. After all the interviews and discussion and consideration given, the Executive Council will put forward the name(s) of the qualified applicants for a vote to be held in December with the regular voting of local officers.
Qualifications for this position that the Executive Council will take into consideration and use to help determine the best applicants are as follows:
-Leadership skills
-Good personnel/people skills
-Organizing/Negotiating/Grievance-Arbitration/ experience
-Knowledge of the general workings of this Local
All applicants must have worked 3 years of the past 5 years as an active and attending member of the Executive Council in the position of President, Newspaper Vice President, Commercial Vice President, Commercial Web Vice President, or Secretary Treasurer, and employed in a plant for the past five years that is under a CEP Local 255G contract.
